Poor customer support

I'm really upset by Rosetta Stone's corporate practices and lack of customer support. I purchased a full CD set French Totale for $450, and now it is no longer supported or compatible with computers that don't run Adobe Flash because Rosetta Stone decided to abandon that platform. Worse, they will not offer any compensation (such as free access to the online platform]. When I originally purchased the set, they said that it would be a lifetime purchase, but now they do not honor that. Stay away from Rosetta Stone!

Rosetta Stone is not accountable and did their customers wrong!.

Several years ago I bought the Spanish package to learn on my time, thinking I would be able to pick up when ever life settled down to go at my pace. Since then and several computers crashes and we are finally up to speed and current with our technology, so I thought I had a lifetime purchase and it would be a nice time to pick up on learning again..turns out I don't...as they no longer have disk drives on laptops and Rosetta is online subscription based now. I am so LIVID right, I am the owner of a worthless unsupported program and APPARENTLY the only way I can do anything is to re-purchase the program I didn't even get to use in the first place. Never did I get a notice from Rosetta Stone that they were changing their format to subscription based programs, which would have helped me understand what would be coming...this is unacceptable and if you ask me qualifies as straight up theft. Rosetta Stone has the audacity to say I need to repurchase something I already did and they want me to purchase it again at full price. FO! I will take my business elsewhere! When I called to discuss this with Rosetta Stone and they did nothing but offer 3 months trial period. I will not recommend them in the future. Extremely dissatisfied.

I bought all 3 courses and can't use them

I bought all 3 courses several years ago with the lifetime guarantee. I spent around $500 for the courses which came as CD's. Now my codes are worthless since they said they no longer support those programs. I was told I would have to pay again to get access to their new system. So if they tell you it's good for X amount of time do not believe them.

Don't bother: They dropped the only good parts in 2020

You missed the boat here- try somewhere else. Any good reviews would be pre-2020 and old info. Used to be much better, then they failed to keep up with technology. I love language and have used Rosetta Stone for French and Spanish and the live, interactive games are where they used to shine. The need to think through how to form the sentences and then speak them was genius. Then when they could no longer use Adobe Flash, they did not even pretend they want to succeed or want you to. They just cut the one part of their system that really worked. They need a reboot and new leadership. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE! NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE

I am absolutely angry with Rosetta…

I am absolutely angry with Rosetta Stone! I have purchased two courses back in 2017 and 2015 and I paid almost £200 in each one of them.
One was a CD-ROM and the other was an online software.
Now I am not able to use any one of them and they are asking me to buy a subscription! Why should I have to pay twice for a course???
If they do not support the platforms, the minimum they could do is to offer people with genuine activation codes, the ability to migrate to the new platforms.

Rosetta Stone is the WORST

Rosetta Stone is the WORST! I bought the full Spanish (Latin America) 1-5 years ago. But due to a hectic work schedule I was not able to use it. I spent hundreds of dollars for this package. Now I don't have a computer with a CD player and old software. They told me they don't support it anymore. And that they will NOT transfer this package to the online version because it's 2 different programs.
After all the money spent you would think they would honor that investment I made in them!
Worst experience in customer service and in a company I have ever had. Save your money DO NOT buy this product!!!!

You will not succeed with Rosetta Stone but they will keep charging you after you cancel

Rosetta Stone's method only works for basic introduction. It's method cannot teach you any more than basic grammar. Worst of all, they continue charging subscribers yearly AFTER subscribers cancel.

A speech recognition that even a Chinese native speaker struggles to pass

What have they done to the speech recognition?
I owned RS on CD many years ago and was told to continue to use I needed to buy the digital software. I reluctantly did and I massively regret it. Why? Because the speech recognition is so poor on the Chinese program that even a Chinese native speaker gets wrong speech answers on a low difficulty setting.
I speak good Chinese and wanted to brush up before moving back but got so frustrated with this program that I switched it off, but not before letting my wife and mother in law have a go (both Chinese) and surprise surprise, not correct either.
The program gives you the opportunity to report and I did so many times that it says, there is a problem with speech recognition so we suggest switching it off. So what’s the point in the program then????

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ROSETTA STONE FOR ARABIC

I learned Spanish and Italian and used Rosetta as part of that learning process and found it useful. I am now learning Arabic and I definitely would NOT recommend Rosetta Stone for that language. There is absolutely no explanation given, it's all guess work and you "learn" by your mistakes and when I say "learn" you just guess but you don't understand the why and how. It's extremely frustrating and thank God I have found other methods to learn Arabic. It it wasn't for the money I paid, I would have given up this method a long time ago

Take Your Business Elsewhere!

Rosetta Stone does NOT care about their clients in ANY Way, Period!...TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!!!
Why must an existing customer pay for an additional online product/service when he/she already purchased the product for $500. in CD format which is only fit for the recycling bin?! Why must older clients pay more than newer clients?! WE feel like we've been ripped off! Their service/support is a joke. Online product is slow and problematic. Good luck understanding the person expected to assist you when you need support as they barely speak your language. Just look at the generic response this company uses in response to your complaints below. I am done with this company and plan on taking my issues further. Everyone I know is going to learn about this money-grubbing, below- average sham of a language company! As one disappointed client states below..."I feel like they sold me a product which was then stolen from me." There are at least 7 competitive options that outpace Stone's outdated language company. I'd rate Rosetta Stone with negative numbers if they were available! Rocket Languages, Babbel and Duolingo are options that outshine and are all better choices. Check them out. Good Riddance to Bad Rubbish!!!

Q:

Are there other similar companies to Rosetta Stone that are less expensive or better?

A:

Fluenz is probably more expensive, but better and well worth the money. Also check out Pimsleur if you're strictly an audio learner.
